We Won in Maui!

June 30th, 2009

We won in Maui!! Rock Prophesies won the best documentary vision award, which is the audience award, the ones you really want because it’s the people that love the film and the bitchy judges who give out the jury awards.

Maui was great and being back home in the lush jungles of Hana Road is such a contrast to living in Las Vegas. However we get better concerts here and all summer my friends for the past 40 years are coming through. Cheap Trick is doing 14 show of Sergeant Pepper the Beatles record and Carlos Santana will play 70 shows at the Hard Rock for the next year!

One of the more interesting side things that is happening after people see our film is I get tons of emails from fans telling me about new young band and new young guitar players I should look at. One is Vince Esquire from Maui, a major young blues player that has jammed with some of the greats

http://www.VinceEsquire.com/

I also get tons of emails from young photographers wanting advice on how to break into the music business and if I can help them get passes to various show by major artists. There is a lot of great new talent out and about at the moment.

We all are looking forward to the Sick Puppies album party and screening of our film at Capital Records July 7th, The Puppies are getting huge radio airplay at the moment with their new single.

I am working with Tantrum my cool young English band getting on The Answer’s tour of the UK this summer. The Answer is a featured band we filmed for Rock Prophecies who are from Ireland, totally great live!!

I have been really traveling in the past week shooting in Maryland, Washington DC, Toronto and Sudbury Canada.

Until next time…rock steady!

Shim, Mark & Emma – define Tri-Polar

June 24th, 2009

Hey guys,

Well it’s official; we are the definition of Tri-Polar. People ask us how we came up with the name and it’s actually pretty simple. Sick Puppies is made of three very distinctive personalities and together we create something indefinable. The “third level of madness” is the literal meaning of Tri-Polar and we thought that was incredibly fitting.

We’ve been working like crazy to keep connected with all of our fans, this blog is just one way to do that. It’s awesome that Rock Prophecies and Samsung have given us this outlet to all of you. Speaking of outlets, we’ll be live on Kyte.tv tonight (4 pm PST/7 pm EST) to catch up with everyone who can make it out. You can join us here: www.kyte.tv/sickpuppies

We’ve been doing a really cool set of videos that we touched base on before on Joost. We now have episodes 3 and 4 up and ready to view. We hope you enjoy watching them and getting a laugh as much as we’ve enjoyed making them. http://www.joost.com/3051lkfw/t/Pt-3-SICK-PUPPIES-Countdown-to-Release#id=3051lkfw

What else? Oh yeah, we have some pretty sweet packages with GoMerch right now. They’re helping us out with this special promotion for Tri-Polar by offering some exclusive t-shirts and other goodies. They’re pretty Sick and we think you’ll like them. http://gomerch.com/sickpuppies/preorder/ Of course, you can always find the rest of our things at our online merch store or at a show near you.

Have you checked out Sick Puppies World Crew yet? We know that you’ll love the interaction with other fans and we always check out the “Ask the Band” forum to answer the questions you may have that we haven’t covered anywhere else. We can always use some more amazing Ambassadors to help us promote, cover shows and even win some awesome prizes. www.sickpuppiesworldcrew.net

If you’re still following this little maze through the internet, we think you’re one of the SICKEST fans out there and we thank you for all the support. We’re so ready to kick off this tour with Hurt, The Veer Union and Tunnels to Holland. Make sure you stop by and say hello so we can really become a part of this journey together.

Until next time,

Sick Puppies

Update from the Road

June 24th, 2009

Here’s another quick update from Nashville..

I’M READY TO GET ON THE ROAD AGAIN!

Today, Jake stopped by to dump some tour videos on my computer..I clicked on the first one and started to watch. Next. Next..Before I knew it, I had watched close to 50 videos. It’s so much fun to look back and see footage from all the places that we’ve been and fantastic venues that we have played. Whether it’s Caleb and I having a foot race down the halls of a Best Western in Lubbock TX, or Jake and I swerving “The Pampered Lady” in the middle of the night to scare Caleb and Calvin…Such good memories. I can’t wait to get out and make some more!!

We’re leaving for the next leg of our Samsung tour at the end of the month…Milwaukee Summerfest here we come!

Then on to ROCK more cool cities…Chicago, Grand Rapids, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, and Solomon, MD with Styx and .38 Special!  Oh Yeaaah!

Take care everyone.
