What’s Happening!

January 25th, 2010Sorry it been so long since I last blogged, but I have been very busy shooting both still images and now video!
We had great fun in Oct when we did our event for Rock Prophecies in Las Vegas when merged with my friend David Saltz’s party for the 20th anniversary of the Mirage Hotel. Day one was the outdoor concert with Slash and friends, and does he have some friends! Joe Perry, Rick Nielson from Cheap Trick, Courtney Love, Duff from Guns and Roses, Tommy Lee, John 5 and Chris Daughtry.
I was allowed to shoot both the concert and sound check. Sound check is the best time to get the artists as they are having fun, jamming and basically much more relaxed and crazy!
The next day we screened Rock Prophecies to about 400 people and everyone really loved the film.

I also started shooting my first film as both director and photographer, its a documentary on the worlds most tested and accurate psychic Ingo Swann. Ingo is a very famous New York artist who has really great psychic skills and somehow got on the radar of the CIA and their project at Stanford Research Institute. Ingo developed Remote Viewing and for over 25 years was a psychic spy for many of America’s intel agencies. The filming took me all over the world interviewing top scientists and doctors as well as various members of the CIA, NSA and Army Intel! In the process of finding out about real remote viewing I also learned a lot about the human brain, creativity and where it comes from, the non locality of time, synchronicity, string theory and other cutting edge ideas that are on the for front of new physics and consciences studies. Somehow I see links to my own life as a photographer and the fantastic artists I have been blessed to know and photograph.
The other never ending process in my life is finding new guitar players and have I found some! Josh Gooch, who at 18 was the west coast winner of Guitar Center’s King of the Blues. 18 year old Graham Whitford, who was the East Coast winner, and son of Aerosmith guitar player Brad Whitford. 16 year old Latino guitar player Yayo Sanchez who just won best guitar player in Texas. Ryan McGarvey 22 from New Mexico who just won best guitar player in his state and finally 14 year old Matt Mojo Tedder who blew everyone’s mind when he jammed at NAMM 2010 this year. I am spending a lot of my time trying to help all of them as they try to build bands, get signed and write songs. I’m also generally exposing them to some of my more famous rock and roll friends. I think you will be hearing about them like we have been hearing about Tyler Bryant who is really coming into his own now. I also reconnected with Chris Iorio who was in Rock Prophecies for a few seconds!
I have also connected with several really young photographers and have enjoyed sharing my knowledge with them. I gave my all access pass to JD Mott, who was able to shoot Guitar Center’s Drum Off, he was able to go backstage and shoot all his rock heroes!
This is the reward for me at this time in my life, and that is to give back. I was that kid once and someone gave me a few breaks and some knowledge and I ran with it and made a very interesting life for myself, now it’s time for me to give back!
One of our next stops with the film will be Boulder, Co on Feb 13th and then we’ll be heading to the University of Montana in April. That will be something! We’ll be teaching some classes, screening the film and Tyler will be there performing live… Looking forward to that!
